INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis-based startup is growing. Native Bread, which was founded in 2016 by Hayley McGinley, is planning to open a new production bakery on the city’s northeast side after entering into a statewide distribution agreement with Indy-based online grocer Market Wagon LLC.

Financial details of the investment in the new bakery are not being disclosed. McGinley tells Inside INdiana Business the company currently has three employees and she plans on hiring more people as production increases.

Native Bread specializes in gluten-free artisan breads. McGinley started the company using shared kitchen space and selling direct to consumers online. The business grew to sales at local farmers markets and grocery stores before also selling to restaurants in the Indianapolis area such as Cafe Patachou and Le Peep.

The deal with Market Wagon’s network of online farmers markets throughout the state will make Native Bread products available in 33 Indiana counties. The new production bakery is expected to open by the spring of 2019.
