JEFFERSONVILLE – A Jeffersonville-based medical device startup is looking to take home the top prize in a national startup venture competition. Inscope Medical Solutions, which produces a device designed to help trauma patients breathe, is one of eight finalists in the Louisville stop of the Rise of the Rest pitch competition.

Inscope Medical has created the Inscope Direct, which is used to clear the airways of an emergency room patient so a breathing tube can be more easily administered. The company, founded by Chief Executive Officer Maggie Galloway, won the top prize at the Venture Club of Indiana’s Innovation Showcase Pitch Competition and came in second in the BioCrossroads New Venture Competition last year.

The winner of the Rise of the Rest pitch competition will earn a $100,000 investment from AOL co-founder Steve Case. The competition made a stop last October in Indianapolis and was won byIndianapolis-based 120WaterAudit. Inscope Medical did not compete at the Indy event.

The Louisville competition will take place May 11 at the Speed Art Museum.

Galloway spoke with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman at the inX3 event last year after winning the Innovation Showcase competition. You can view that interview by clicking the link below:
