INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis-based startup founded by three high school seniors has created a software platform to help job seekers find the ideal employer. Fia Recruit recently received $20,000 in funding through the Elevate Nexus pitch competition for the central region, as well as a $1.5 million valuation. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Izzy Branam, a senior at Zionsville High School, says the concept came from a desire to bring machine learning to the recruitment space.
Branam talked about the technology and the experience at the pitch competition in an interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick.
Branam and his co-founders, who are seniors at Brebuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis, are now among the youngest, venture-backed founders in the country. He says the pitch competition was a great learning experience.
“It was phenomenal to be in that room pitching alongside some of the most brilliant people in central Indiana,” said Branam. “It was a pleasure for us, and it was a great experience to kind of get that experience pitching and speaking, and we’re looking forward to that next opportunity.”
Fia Recruit’s software is currently focused on sales positions.
“What we’re doing is we’re trying to understand where would you be optimally placed for impact? Where would you bring the most value to the employer? And then, we’re searching through all of the employers on our platform, trying to find the position that best fits the needs for you, and then in the process, we’re completely automating that recruitment process all the way up to the interview for that employer. So, we’re kind of helping both sides of the equation find each other.”
Looking forward, Branam says he and his co-founders are trying to figure out what the next steps are for both the business and themselves as they prepare to graduate high school.
