Local businesses awarded by BBB

The northern Indiana Better Business Bureau announced winners of the 13th annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics on Wednesday. The awards recognize businesses, nonprofits and individuals who “Do it right.”
Aaron’s Oriental Rug Gallery, Cottage Flowers, Korte Does It All and Preferred Automotive Group were awarded. Volunteer Center was chosen in the nonprofit category.
Victor Lopez of Global Medical Industries was named Entrepreneur of Integrity. And the Embassy Theatre Foundation was named Pillar of the Community.
Shirley Woods, a community activist and founder of the Euell Wilson Community Center, will also be recognized as the Individual of Integrity.
Awards will be presented April 26 during a luncheon at the Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation, 10622 Parkview Plaza Drive. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Individual tickets are $75 each, and a table of 8 costs $550. Some discounts are available.
