CARMEL, Ind.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–pi lab, an education technology company focused on intelligent product and application creation, today announces high approvals from the National Lekotek Center alongside a 2016 Innovation Award from Kids at Play Interactive. pi lab will showcase the award-winning smart toy at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at booth #74366 in the Sands Expo and Convention Center, January 6 – 9, 2016.

Able Play, a toy rating system from the National Lekotek Center, awarded Edwin 5-star ratings in the communicative and cognitive categories. The app-enhanced rubber duck also received 4-star ratings in the remaining categories: physical, sensory and social/emotional. Lekotek is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting play for children of all abilities.

“Edwin the Duck includes a multitude of ways for kids to interact during all ages and stages of child development. Edwin is a toy that will advance with kids as their skills progress and interests expand,” said Ahren Hoffman, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. “Edwin the Duck is an educational tool that is a toy for the techies, traditionalists and teachers catering to all types of learners and generations,” added Jean Bailey, Director, National Lekotek Center.

In addition to the aforementioned accolades, Edwin received a 2016 Innovation Award from Kids at Play Interactive. The KAPi awards celebrate the best innovations in childrens’ media and technology. The awards represent the combined opinion of 14 judges that are experts in multidisciplinary areas including education, media, design, storytelling and technology.

After careful evaluation of innovation, staying power and popular support, Edwin was also announced as a finalist for Last Gadget Standing, “the best loved and longest running event at the International Consumer Electronics Show.” Having amassed over 1,000 votes to date, Edwin the Duck is seeking a third award within the first month of the year.
