Guardian Bikes raises $3M to support its shift to USA production
- News,
Seymour, Ind. (Dec. 6, 2022) – Guardian Bikes today announces it has completed a $3,000,000 raise of investment capital from Mark Cuban with participation from Elevate Ventures, Digsbury Ventures, and strategic individuals to accelerate its transition to US production.
After appearing on Shark Tank in 2017 and landing a partnership with billionaire investor Mark Cuban, Guardian Bikes has become known for bringing innovation into the kid’s bike category. The Company’s bikes, featuring its patented SureStop brake system, have created raving fans of its 100,000+ customer families. Guardian recently announced it will build its own factory in the USA to produce its bikes locally, rather than following the industry standard model of importing from OEMs in China.
“The status quo in kid’s bikes is broken” said Guardian Co-Founder and CEO, Brian Riley. Millions of kids are struggling with bikes which are built like cheap toys overseas. It’s sad. There hasn’t been innovation in this space in decades. Our vision is to build a new status quo; kids bikes which are easy to learn and safe to ride, delivered directly to your door, with an incredible customer experience. Vertical integration from our own local factory floor to a consumer’s door allows us to execute our vision at scale. We’re thrilled to partner with investors in this round who can help the company in various ways along this journey”
“At Digsbury, we are always looking for great partners in the outdoor space because we believe that outdoor products and services are as impactful in individual lives as traditional investments,” said Steve Westover, Managing Partner at Digsbury Ventures. “Guardian Bikes is a shining example of making an impact in the safety of kids bikes and inspiring them to a lifetime of activity and adventure.
Guardian Bikes will be assembling 100% of its bikes in the USA by March of 2023 and will be shifting production of frames and components over the coming years, in a move that is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect manufacturing jobs in the USA.
About Guardian Bikes
Guardian Bikes was founded by Brian Riley after a family member was in a serious bike accident, resulting in several broken vertebrae. Riley was inspired to solve the problem of head-over-handlebar accidents, which led to the development of an award-winning braking innovation called SureStop. In 2017, Guardian Bikes featuring SureStop brakes were introduced to America by landing a deal on Shark Tank with entrepreneur Mark Cuban.
