Indianapolis, IND.Perceivant, an educational technology company that creates and delivers interactive guided courseware for higher education, announced today it has raised $585,000 in its latest financing round. Investors who participated in this funding round include venture development organization Elevate Ventures, among others.

With eight full-time and four part-time team members, Perceivant has deployed courseware at 12 universities, including The Ohio State University, Brigham Young University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and University of Oregon, impacting over 15,000 students. The company wants to expand to reach more students and educators.

“The funding is pure growth capital for us to invest in growing the size of our target market, and how quickly we can reach them,” said Brian Rowe, Perceivant CEO. “Because of the long sales cycles in higher education, it’s critical for us to get more schools in the top of our funnel and aware of our solution as quickly as we can. This funding will help accelerate that.”

The Indianapolis-based startup strives to deliver exceptional content, paired with an interactive learning approach and innovative technology. With this approach, Perceivant supports student, instructor and institution success. For students, the courseware is designed to meet them where they are today: in the classroom, online and on their mobile devices. Traditional textbooks and ebooks are replaced with cost-effective, interactive, analytics-enabled digital content, increasing student access and engagement with web and mobile applications. Instructor time and training with the software has supported the courseware’s success. Educators are provided with easy-to-use tools that engage students, save time and measure performance.

“Perceivant has found a way to compete against large college textbook publishers by providing an online learning platform that offers quality content on an interface that gives instructors high levels of customization and reporting and students a cost-effective option,” said Jacob Schpok, Elevate Ventures Entrepreneur-in-Residence. “The leadership team and advisors have backgrounds in the education and business development space which leads Elevate Ventures to believe Perceivant has the team and business model to be successful.”

Using the courseware can reduce the cost to the student as well as improve student success and retention, a top issue for higher education institutions. Perceivant’s largest university partner experienced a 48 percent reduction in DFW rates (students receiving either a grade of D, F, or Withdrawing from the course), while maintaining the integrity of educational content and outcomes when using the product.

Currently, Perceivant offers four courses within the health science field, with additional courses in development.
