BLOOMINGTON & COLUMBUS – A new partnership among Bloomington, Columbus, and Elevate Ventures to foster the entrepreneurial mindset and infrastructure in south-central Indiana has hired a leader with deep experience in building fast-growing companies.

The partnership, called Velocities, has added Cy Megnin as Entrepreneur-in-Residence. A native of Bloomington, Megnin has founded and led numerous companies in Austin, Texas including CloudCoreo (sold to VMware), PrepFlash, and OCPS. Megnin has experience in software development and operations as well as cloud computing, which involves using servers to store, manage, and process data, artificial intelligence, life science, education technology and more.

Megnin will contribute his many experiences to helping south-central Indiana build its entrepreneurship base by coaching, mentoring and assisting entrepreneurs with the potential to attract venture capital investment.

“I’m trying to affect the ecosystem by helping entrepreneurs in any way possible,” Megnin said. “If you get one or two entrepreneurs who have a nice exit, that feeds down and creates more entrepreneurs. It has a snow-ball effect.”

Velocities marks one of the first times Bloomington and Columbus have worked together on economic development. Velocities is a formal partnership that includes Elevate Ventures, a venture development organization in Indianapolis; Dimension Mill, a coworking space in Bloomington; and the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce.

Entrepreneurs and others who would like to meet Megnin can attend upcoming Meet & Greets in Bloomington and Columbus.
