WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Spensa Technologies Inc., a precision agriculture technology company, and Spectrum Seed, a premium, non-GMO seed company, announced a partnership Tuesday (March 28) that allows corn growers in the Midwest the ability to collect important pest population data for insects such as corn earworm, western bean cutworm, and European corn borer in near real-time, powered by Spensa’s Z-Trap Network.
The network will stretch from North and South Dakota through the Midwestern Corn Belt to eastern Ohio, providing growers throughout the region valuable insights into potential yield saving data.
“We are thoroughly impressed with Spensa’s commitment to excellence and their novel approach to an innovative combination of crop protection insight and solutions,” said Josh Richey, CEO of Spectrum Seed. “The Z-Trap is a step change in active pest monitoring.”
Not only will Spensa’s unique technology allow growers to monitor pest populations, but also its Trapping Insights data will help growers maximize efficient use of insecticides, thus reducing the impact on the environment and the financial impact on the grower.
“The Spensa team is thrilled to partner with such a conscientious and innovative seed company in a new way that will benefit all of Spectrum’s non-GMO customers,” said Johnny Park, founder and CEO of Spensa Technologies. “The unique combination of premium non-GMO corn paired with a complete pest management solution will enable growers to become more profitable and more sustainable, which is the collective mission of both of our companies.”
